The 2025 annual health screening of courageous orphan children has commenced under Alkhidmat Karachi’s Orphan Care Program. So far, the screening of 356 children from the Malir and West clusters has been completed. In total, 2,400 children across 11 clusters under the Alkhidmat Orphan Care Program in Karachi will undergo health screening. Alongside providing home-based care for these orphan children, Alkhidmat also prioritizes their health. For this purpose, health camps were arranged for children of Malir and West clusters at Alkhidmat Fareeda Yaqoob Hospital, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, and Alkhidmat Hospital, Orangi. Teams of general physicians, dentists, ophthalmologists, and ENT specialists were present for the check-ups, supported by paramedical staff. After examinations, the children were given prescribed medicines, while Alkhidmat volunteers assisted both children and their mothers. Doctors also shared health tips, emphasizing oral hygiene before bedtime, awareness about eye care, and safety practices. Director Alkhidmat Orphan Care Program, Yousuf Mohiuddin, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami District Malir Syed Mufakhar Ali, and General Secretary Jamaat-e-Islami District West Abdul Hannan visited the camps. On the occasion, Syed Mufakhar Ali said that supporting orphans is an honor that Alkhidmat is blessed to fulfill, and those with compassionate hearts who spend in the way of Allah also share in this blessing. He added that Alkhidmat’s services extend across the country, serving people in nearly every field of life, and called upon philanthropists to continue supporting these efforts. Director Yousuf Mohiuddin stated that Alkhidmat conducts these health screenings regularly every year to ensure that the children supported at home also receive proper healthcare and that their medical needs are addressed. He further said that the health screening will continue in phases.

You have proven that if given opportunities and encouragement, you can make the country proud at the international level.” He also commended the coach’s dedication and guidance in leading the team to success. Executive Director Rashid Qureshi said: “Never abandon your education. Pursue higher studies—education refines your life, builds your character, and helps you progress. For this purpose, Alkhidmat is ready to extend all possible support. We will stand with you in your journey for education.” He congratulated the Lyari boys’ team on their victory and the girls’ team for securing eighth place. Coach Rashid Baloch said: “Without Alkhidmat’s support, this journey would not have been possible. Whether Alkhidmat Pakistan or Alkhidmat Europe, we are grateful for their help in making it possible for us to participate in this tournament in Norway.” He added: “Be it during floods, heavy rains, Ramadan, or ordinary days, Alkhidmat is always seen serving people in streets and neighborhoods. Their work for humanity is unforgettable.”

A rescue boat was also provided to evacuate the stranded residents. Drinking water was additionally supplied through Alkhidmat’s water vans. Speaking on the occasion, Rashid Qureshi said: “We learned that this area has been severely affected by the torrential rains, which is why we came here. Cooked meals and clean drinking water have been provided to the affected residents. A bus service has also been arranged to help people leave the area.” He added: “Just as in other cities of the country, Alkhidmat’s volunteers have not left the people of Karachi alone. They rescued elderly passersby, women, and children trapped in the floodwaters, and helped remove cars, motorcycles, and rickshaws stuck in water. According to weather forecasts, rains are expected to continue in Karachi until the end of August. Our Disaster Management Cell and volunteers are fully active across the city and ready to assist the public.” Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami District North Tariq Mujtaba said: “After the rains, this area has been submerged and people’s difficulties have increased. Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat have never left the people alone; the victims are our brothers, and we will provide every possible support to them.”

They also helped restart motorcycles stuck in the water. The rescue operations were supervised by Alkhidmat Karachi’s Executive Director, Rashid Qureshi. Speaking on the occasion, he said: “Right now, the city is facing an urban flooding situation. The Meteorological Department had already forecast heavy rains. As rainwater has accumulated on the roads, people have been trapped, and hundreds of vehicles, motorcycles, cars, and buses have been stranded. Alkhidmat volunteers have risen to the occasion and have come forward on the streets to help citizens out of this difficult situation.” He further added: “During heavy rains, Alkhidmat’s Disaster Management Cell is fully active, and volunteers have been instructed to assist citizens. We also urge residents to remain cautious during the rains and stay away from electrical appliances.”

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Naveed Ali Baig said that Alkhidmat has started a citywide spray campaign. Whenever the monsoon season arrives, after heavy rains, the breeding of mosquitoes and flies causes diseases such as malaria and dengue. He added that Alkhidmat has always served the citizens without discrimination and is committed to providing them with a clean and germ-free environment. Ten Alkhidmat vehicles will spray in two districts daily, and areas in urgent need will also be covered. Citizens can point out locations requiring spraying so that action can be taken there. “In the past, we mainly faced malaria outbreaks, but in recent years dengue has also become a major epidemic, which in some cases can even lead to death,” said Naveed Ali Baig. “I also congratulate all Alkhidmat workers who, despite the city’s crumbling infrastructure, are working to protect citizens from various diseases.” On the occasion, Executive Director Rashid Qureshi said that Alkhidmat organizes the spray campaign regularly every year to protect people from diseases caused by germs after rainfall. “This year too, the campaign has been launched, and spraying is being carried out in all areas with full dedication by Alkhidmat volunteers,” he added.

Addressing the ceremony, Naveed Ali Baig stated that this is Alkhidmat’s 71st plant in Karachi, providing citizens with safe and high-quality drinking water. He noted that water at Alkhidmat plants is supplied at affordable rates and that the organization has a proper testing system in place to regularly check water quality. Currently, citizens lack access to clean drinking water, while contaminated water poses serious health risks. Apart from water filtration plants, Alkhidmat is running hundreds of other water projects, including the installation of submersible and hand pumps, boreholes, and wells in underprivileged and water-scarce areas. He added that Alkhidmat is working across eight sectors, covering almost all aspects of life. “Our aim is to establish water filtration plants across the city so that citizens can have access to safe and clean drinking water,” he said, appealing to philanthropists to support this noble cause. He also thanked Gulshan Town for their cooperation in setting up the plant, adding that this facility will greatly benefit local residents. Chairman Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, Dr. Fawad, remarked that Alkhidmat serves people without discrimination and enjoys strong public trust.
